Small Animal Market comes to Charlie Lake
The Charlie Lake Pub's first market of the season features poultry, piglets & quail

Inspired by small animal markets in the Okanagan, the First Annual Poultry and Small Animal Market is taking place at the Charlie Lake Pub, on May 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Events coordinator, Shona Leahy, recently returned to Fort St. John from the Okanangan, where she says there are frequent markets of this type. “I thought it would be a good thing to start here,” Leahy said.
As of Monday morning, there will be vendors with quail, pigeons, chickens, ducks and piglets. 8 Seconds will also have a booth at the market, as will Crooked Corner Clothing. There are individuals with macrame, antiques and seedlings.
With such a wide variety of vendors, Leahy hopes there will be something for everyone. “I’m hoping there will also be someone there with baked goods, we’re just waiting for confirmation,” Leahy said.
In addition, the Pub will open at noon on May 6 for family dining. At 7 p.m., Rob Doucette will be playing in the Pub until 10 p.m.
Although vendor applications closed on the weekend, Leahy says if anyone has a product or livestock they would like to bring to the sale, please get in touch with her – shonadee41@gmail.com
Leahy says that this market will be the first in a number of events popping up all summer. Currently, the Pub is holding weekly auditions – in the form of a live music showcase during Pub hours - for the remaining four performer’s spaces in the Energetic County Fair, July 20-22, 2023.
