Resident concerned proposed new pool is a luxury we can't afford

I and many others, recently attended the Conservative Party of BC Riding Association for Peace River North AGM.

I was surprised to see Larry Neufeld MLA Peace River South, and Trevor Bolin in attendance. They were, according to the President of the Association, guest speakers.

Larry Neufeld, MLA for Peace River South, went on and on about the NDP Government and the DEBT that BC was in. Over $13 Billion. Can you believe that? He also said that by this time Next Year, that number would be higher, if not DOUBLED!! What does this Government have to show for all this??

This is were I have to question the feasibility, of a New Pool Build. With the Province in a Financial Crisis, Healthcare Crisis, Mental Health and Addictions Crisis, Housing Crisis, Affordability (rent, food, gas, electricity, etc) Crisis, etc etc., do you honestly think that you should MOVE FORWARD with this PROJECT??

The Province is BROKE. There is no money. It has been squandered on USLESS projects and RED TAPE. The Gravy Train has dried up. Tax payers money goes more towards Salaries and Benefit Packages for UNIONIZED workers, Government Officials (Municipal, Regional, Provincial), Healthcare that does not exist because of the TOP HEAVY overpaid, bureaucrats, Subsidies for Foreign Workers (which many owned FAST FOOD restaurants have tapped in and gain financially on the BC TAX Payers dime). The list goes on and on.

So were are you going to get all this Money for this Project?? Not from us. We too, are feeling the PINCH. Food and Shelter will be my priority over a LUXURY item. Paying my heating and electricity takes precedence over financing the Entertainment of a few thousand people. I refuse to pay for peoples Entertainment. But saying that I do pay for the entertainment for people. I pay my portion for Parks, Walking and Bike Trails, the Geo Park and Dinosaur Park in Tumbler Ridge, Dog Park, the existing Pool, the Arena’s, etc. I’m tapped out and so are many other people.

There will not be any GRANTS, which in fact is TAX PAYER funded. Industry is at a standstill and many of our locals have been laid off due to the RED TAPE and Bureaucracy, thanks to the Provincial and Federal Governments. You have NO RIGHT to use the PRA as you want. It is not yours to squander as per Steve Thorlakson’s letter. The letter sent by Stephen Foster further tells us that the City is not doing their due diligence and NOT following procedure and Provincial and Municipal guidelines.

So when is enough is enough?

I will share a quote from a friend. Canadian Dr. Mark Trozzi:

The more you have invested in going in the wrong Direction, the harder it is for you to REALIZE, that YOU ARE, going in the WRONG Direction.

You have a Responsibility to us, the People of Fort St John. YOU SERVE US!

Priorities over Luxury.

Period.

PS: Trevor Bolin was there and heard the whole speech that MLA Larry Neufeld presented. Ask him!!
